June 30 Hot Orofino WeekendMost weekends in the summer when the temperature is in the 90's you know you can find us up on Priest but this weekend it was another part of Idaho we descended upon. Good ol Orofino Idaho! Home of the Maniacs:) We loaded Cade up and took the truck down mid morning on Saturday and arrived mid afternoon. We drove straight the nursery that Matt's parents own and operate: Green Things Nursery. With temperatures at about 100 we all needed some shade! We hadn't been down since just after Christmas so we were due for a visit:) Poor Cade gets so confused when I say let's go see Grandma and Grandpa's-need to be better about making him understand he has two sets! We tooled around the nursery for a bit and then drove around to check on a few of Matt's buddies that live in town. Eventually we landed at Orofino Elementary School and let Cade play for a bit. The nursery is so close to the highway I could barely let him out of my sight to run before I would have a heart attack so running wild at the elementary school was great. We took Mike and Joan to dinner at the Edge..the newest restaurant in town (thank the Lord for that). It is next to the hotel that was built a few years back on the river-quite possibly the best thing that has happened to that town in years. I knew once we stepped in that place we would be seeing folks all night long and well yes we did:) What is nice is I have actually been around long enough (14yrs-thank you very much:) ) that a lot of these people I know and they know me. Dinner was great and we had great conversation. We spent the night up at the farm-Mike and Joan have for the past few years lived outside of town on over 100 acres. Its a windy drive and steep too..I snapped some pictures on our way back to town on Sunday. Not a tremendous fan but Matt's a good driver:) Sunday we had a wonderful breakfast at the house and began the process of selecting some of our plants and trees to bring back home with us. SO much to choose from-we will see how much the deer eat this time. The drive home was a bit taxing-I think Matt's patience had run out as did Cade sitting in his carseat. All of us were happy to be home and out of the truck. We let Cade chill out and watch Cars while Matt and I unloaded the nursery stock. Plenty O' planting to be had!!!! Orofino summer trip in the books!! Comments (2)
